Assistant/Associate Professor (12-month appointment, tenure track: 80% research, 20% teaching).
Minimum Requirements:
A Ph.D. in Poultry Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry or closely related discipline is required with emphasis in poultry nutrition and biochemistry. Strong communication skills (oral and written) and a demonstrated ability to publish high impact research and conduct independent and collaborative research are required. Relevant poultry industry collaborations are desired.
Job Duties:
RESEARCH - The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative, internationally recognized, and extramurally funded research program in the area of poultry nutrition/biochemical systems with relevance to the poultry industry. The successful candidate should have a unique skillset (e.g. biochemical systems nutrition, metabolomics, or nutrigenomics) that fosters multidisciplinary collaborations. The successful candidate's research will be directed toward understanding avian biochemical systems that result in improved efficiency, yields, or health of commercial poultry. Although the specific research area is not prescribed, preference will be given to individuals with expertise in basic nutrition for mechanistic understanding coupled with applied nutrition for industry relevance. Demonstrated research ability, effective oral and written communication skills, and evidence of successful grantsmanship (i.e., nationally competitive and industry funding) are essential. The successful candidate will maintain a high rate of publishing in top ranked journals in poultry science and nutritional/basic sciences.
TEACHING - Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Classroom instruction will be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A key teaching component of this position is training doctoral students in poultry nutrition.
