Bachelor's degree in biology or related field; plus experience in a biological lab setting; including experience with basic molecular biology techniques (DNA and protein).

Overall Purpose/Job Objective:
The Research Assistant will oversee general lab operations and conduct experiments in the area of developmental genetics in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. A broad spectrum of methods is used in the laboratory, including molecular cloning techniques, fluorescence microscopy, and transgenic techniques. This diversity will provide an opportunity to improve and expand technical skills, while enjoying the pleasures of working with one of the most important model organisms in modern biology. This position will need to help with keeping fly stocks and fulfill other basic duties is expected.
